The expense of treating horses with colic can often present financial stress to the client. Consequently, many horses that would otherwise carry a good prognosis with treatment are being euthanized due to a lack of available funds.

We recognize this problem and have created a solution for our clients: affordable equine colic assistance. This includes hospitalization, fluid therapy, supplies, medications, and intensive care.

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Horses must be treated by an SSEC veterinarian
  • Horses must be treated at The South Shore Equine Clinic facility (in Plympton, MA)
  • Financial assistance becomes effective 30 days after purchase of the program
  • Financial assistance covers all expenses for services up to $3000.00/ year; expenses incurred above this amount are the sole responsibility of the owner. (Wellness Plan participants receive 5% off all additional services)
  • Horses must undergo a pre-enrollment identification examination by an SSEC veterinarian. This evaluation is not covered by the program. The cost of the evaluation is $75.00 (waived for all horses on the Superior Preventative Wellness Plan)
  • Clients must present proof of ownership for each horse enrolled in the program
  • Deductible is due at the time of admission to SSEC for each episode of colic
  • Horse transportation may be offered by SSEC but is not covered by the program
  • Euthanasia and Burial Services are not covered by the program
  • SSEC reserves the right to cancel colic assistance for any horse at any time without prior notice
